Deltanatuurroute(Delta Nature Route)

Water and open space, the characteristics of the Hoeksche Waard. Land with one leg in the Randstad and bathe with the other in our delta. This precious natural property is in full development. Under the flag of the Delta Nature project (governments and civil society organisations) new, water-rich nature is being built.

.Delta Nature guides you along and through robust, water-rich nature on the edge of the mouth of the Rhine and Meuse. What you see is just a start:around 2010 some 3000 hectares of new nature were created in the South Holland Delta. It's a restoration of what was lost to nature after the Delta Works were completed.Plants and animals that belong to tidal areas, return (already!), you will see this with your own eyes during this bike tour!

!You cycle alternately through open landscapes, forests, along detached farms and ribbon construction (dikes and polder roads).You regularly look over the Spui and the Haringvliet or you cycle along ancient creeks and channels.On the way you can - if you like - take a short walk on the Korendijk Slikken and make a bike crossing to the island Tiengemeten.
