The Hoeksche Waard it was formed after the Saint Elisabeth flood of 1421. Between 1437 and 1653 the dikes were built on the island. Gradually, the (approximately) sixty polders were dried out in the area.

Via this polder you cycle from Oud-Beijerland to Mijnsheerenland and Heinenoord. In Heinenoord take a look at the Regional Museum Hoeksche Waard. This museum offers you a nice view of everyday life in the Hoeksche Waard and the history of the Hoeksche Waard. There are several exchange collections to be admired with lace and brand rags, a jewelry collection and a special collection of rags, nipples, skirts and jacks.Along the way you can get off at Eterij-Tapperij De Platte Reedijk for a cup of coffee or a bite to eat.
