The Ritselaarsdijk is popularly called the Apeldijk because there are many apple trees along this dike. These trees were planted in 1977 by children from Westmaas on the Tree Planting Day. Now it's called National Tree Day.The apple trees are provided by volunteers of association Hoekschewaards Landscape. It's like 80 trees, 16 different kinds of apples. For example the Sweet Flower, the Notary apple and the French Acid. In 2023 there was an association Hoekschewaardlandscape 50 years. They celebrated it with a "Taking party'. Artworks were made with willow branches in various places. Also on this piece is willow art.
